How to enter
There are eleven categories within the Deals and Dealmakers Awards including the Deal of the Year Award. For this award, the judging panel will select the best deal chosen from the category winners.
You can enter more than one category however you must complete the relevant entry form for each category you wish to enter.
Please read through the category descriptions below, select the category you wish to enter from the list, then click ENTER NOW . You'll need to register and set up your account the first time you do this.
Registering your account
When registering, you will receive an email which will have a click-through link and a validation code to validate your account. You will need to complete this step before you can start your nomination. If you do not receive the validation email please email email@example.com.
Completing your entry
You can save draft entries and return to edit them as often as you wish before submitting. All you need to do is click on the YOUR ACCOUNT tab on the menu banner and this will take you through to your dashboard where you will find all your draft entries and submitted entries.
When you have finished writing your entry and you are ready to submit, you'll need to agree to the terms and conditions then click the COMPLETE button at the bottom of the page. If your entry is still in draft, you will need to click MOVE TO BASKET at the top of the entry before you can click the COMPLETE button.

IMPORTANT INFO - PLEASE READ:
- Your entry must be completed before the deadline of 23:59 on 5th May 2023
- Maximum word counts are shown below the entry box for each question
- A business/individual/team can be submitted into more than one category however please tailor your entry according to the category in order to meet judges requirements
- Sponsoring companies are not permitted to enter the category they are sponsoring
- Entries can be submitted by the business directly or by a third party (agent, client etc)
- Successful candidates will be notified following the judging session on 16th May.
Judging of the Deals & Dealmakers Awards is conducted by an independent panel of experts and is extremely thorough. The information provided will be collated, followed by a shortlisting by our panel.
If the entered company/individual/team moves forward to the next stage, representatives will be invited to attend an interview in front of our judging panel.
Please note that interviews will take place on Tuesday 30th May in Glasgow and we would appreciate that a representative(s) of the company is available on this date to attend.

Acquisitive Company of the Year
This award recognises the Scottish-headquartered company which delivered the most ambitious, innovative acquisition or acquisition strategy in 2022/23.
Corporate Finance Team of the Year
This category will celebrate the team that made the greatest contribution to deals in the year. It may be a lead advisory, financial diligence or tax team; or a team providing specialist diligence, market insight or advice to bring an edge to deal making in Scotland.
will be looking at a range of factors including overall contribution to deals in the period,
impact on completed transactions and the company(ies) involved, innovation and creativity,
and strong leadership in Environmental Social Governance (ESG).
Diversity and Inclusion Award
This award recognises an organisation, team or individual who embrace diversity and/or have brought to life an excellent example of working towards inclusion for all within dealmaking. The category will cover excellence in all areas of diversity including gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, race and religion.
The judges will be looking for a vanguard in business that can demonstrate an effective inclusion and diversity strategy or/and initiative that goes beyond legal compliance and seeks to add value to an organisation. Entries must demonstrate how the business has gone above and beyond their corporate social responsibility, shown commitment and dedication to equality and can exhibit positive results on the organisational culture.
Early Stage Deal of the Year
This category recognises the quality of the investment capital, the level and quality of the syndication of the investment, the scale of the market opportunity for the company and the potential return for investors, and the role of the management team and its advisors in realising the deal.
Emerging Dealmaker of the Year
This award will recognise a newcomer to the Scottish dealmaking community who has played a key role in making a deal or deals happen. The individual may have identified the opportunity or played a key role during negotiations.
Funder of the Year
Recognises the role of the funding community in making deals happen. The funder may have provided debt, equity or an alternative source of finance and supported the management teams of Scottish based companies to add value and take the business to another level.
Legal Advisor of the Year
This award recognises the skills of legal advisors involved in deals and seeks to award a firm which has had an outstanding year based on completed transactions.
The judges will be
looking at a range of factors including the ability to resolve complicated issues, adding value
and having tangible impact on completed transactions, innovation and strong leadership in
Environmental Social Governance (ESG). Individual lawyers or teams at individual firms can
be nominated for this award.
Sale of the Year
This award is for the Scottish-headquartered company which carried out the most successful and impressive sale or sales in 2022/23.
SME Deal of the Year
This award is for a Scottish-based company with an annual turnover of less than £20 million that has been involved in a transformational deal whether acquisition, sale, fundraising or MBO/MBI.
Transformational Deal of the Year
This category recognises the deal of any type – including management buyouts, buy-ins, employee buyouts – which transforms the fortunes of a Scottish-headquartered business.
Deal of the Year
This category cannot be entered into. The judging panel will select the best deal chosen from the category winners.
